Student / Farmworker Alliance Rally - Emancipation Day
The Student / Farmworker Alliance is demanding that Giant sign an agreement with the CIW to ensure that no slavery is used in picking the tomatoes sold by the supermarket. By signing with the CIW, Giant would join the ranks of many large corporations, such as Whole Foods and McDonalds, to end modern day slavery and poverty wages in Flordia's tomato fields.
Shout outs to the Georgetown Solidarity Committee and the DC Fair Food Network for coordinating this event!

Alta Gracia for Colonial Inauguration
GW Bookstore Manager Bob Blake confirmed today via telephone that the Colonial Inauguration "give-away" t-shirts will be sourced from Alta Gracia. This is a great victory!
Alta Gracia is the only major sweat-free brand of t-shirts. The company is an experiment in socially responsible production, and a challenge to companies like Russel Athletic who claim that paying living wages would put them out of business.
We are very happy to promote Alta Gracia on campus, in coordination with the United Students Against Sweatshops. Thanks for Steve Roache at the Colonial Inauguration office and Bob Blake at the GW Bookstore for working with us so closely.
